Belgium’s Fluxys to auction Zeebrugge LNG slots for March

Belgian LNG terminal operator Fluxys is offering two regasification slots for March 2024 at its LNG import facility in the port of Zeebrugge.

Fluxys LNG, a unit of Fuxys, is offering standard slots to unload, store, and regasify a cargo in the Zeebrugge LNG terminal, starting on March 25 and March 30, 2024, it said in a statement.

For these cargoes, Fluxys LNG commercializes the firm rights to unload, store, and regasify up to 140,000 cbm of LNG over 10 days, it said.

The firm said it would hold auctions for these slots on its website on January 17.

Also, the starting price is the regulated tariff of 609,477,99 euros for the slots, Fluxys said, adding that the major price step is 200,000 euros and the minor price step is 50,000 euros.

Besides this, Fluxys is testing the market’s interest in importing “low-carbon” gases such as bio-LNG and hydrogen/ammonia via its Zeebrugge LNG import facility.

The move is a part of Fluxy’s plans to “reshape and extend the Zeebrugge LNG terminal into a multi-molecule hub for importing low-carbon and climate-neutral molecules as well,” it said.

The Zeebrugge terminal currently consists of five tanks with a storage capacity of 566,000 cbm and a regasification capacity of about 6.6 mtpa.

However, Fluxys is expanding the facility to almost double the regasification capacity.

Fluxys previously said it aims to offer 4.7 mtpa of additional regasification capacity at the Zeebruge LNG facility as of early 2024 and the full 6 mtpa as of early 2026.
