China’s Wison to work on two Nigerian FLNG projects

China’s FLNG builder Wison New Energies will on work on two floating LNG production projects in Nigeria as part of a deal revealed on Monday.

According to a statement issued on Monday by Wison New Energies, previously known as Wison Offshore & Marine, the design validation and pre-FEED phase for two 3 mtpa FLNG projects of Ace Gas and FLNG, and Transoceanic Gas and Power officially started.

In this project, Wison is entrusted with the FLNG design and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).

Wison said the contract had been successfully signed, while mobilization funds had been disbursed for this phase of the project.

The agreement is to provide the design validation and engineering studies for the design of a 3 mtpa facility to support the “design one and build two strategies” to be applied across Ace and Transoceanic projects in offshore Escravos and offshore Pennington respectively, it said.

The FLNG will produce, store and offload 3 mtpa of LNG and also associated LPG and condensates for transport to market.

Wison said the firm is “excited about advancing to the next stage in the near future”, but it did not provide further information.

Ace Gas and Transoceanic

Ace Gas & FLNG, a member of Cratos/Transoceanic Energy Group, said in a separate statement that its project aims to monetize “500 MMSCFd of stranded offshore and swamp gas resources.”

Strategically located offshore in Escravos, the project is designed to supply 3 mtpa of LNG to the international market, 150,000 metric tons per year of LPG to the domestic market, 25,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) of condensates, and 75,000 MT/yr of propane, according to the firm.

Ace Gas said that Wilson will also design a floating power barge.

Besides Wison, Ace Gas said that upstream gathering facilities would be managed by Samsung Heavy Industry Nigeria, while Siemens Energy would provide the power and compression Systems.

“We have offtake assurances for the LNG from Socar, Vitol, and Karpowership of Turkey,” the firm said.

Ace Gas said the project is backed by private equity and financing for the upstream development would be provided by Quantum Suisse.

Transoceanic’s projects includes the same companies.

The firm said in a separate statement its project is strategically located offshore Pennington and proximal to OML 289, a block the firm operates on behalf of Cleanwaters.

Feedstock for the FLNG would be supplied from OML 289 and other assets, it said.

As part of the phased development plan, the Transoceanic project will deploy a floating power barge concept, starting with a phase 1 power capacity of 250 MW.

This initiative is expected to support the development of over 1 GW of power, it said.
