TMS Cardiff Gas awards LNG carrier repair and upgrade job to Seatrium

Singapore’s Seatrium has secured a contract from Greek LNG shipping firm TMS Cardiff Gas for the repairs and upgrades of the latter’s liquefied natural gas carriers.

The favored customer contract includes the refit of 17 LNG carriers in Singapore, with responsibilities in joint planning, information, and experience sharing, according to a statement by Seatrium.

The group, previously known as Sembcorp Marine and renamed as Seatrium following its merger with Keppel Offshore & Marine, did not provide any additional details regarding the contract.

Alexandros Politis-Kalenteris, deputy chief operating officer, TMS Cardiff Gas, said in the statement that the selection of Seatrium as the company’s partner in Singapore “aligns with our strategy to grow our LNG business in Asia.”

“We have worked successfully with Seatrium on three LNG refits and we see Seatrium as the right long-term partner who understands the stringent requirements of our company,” he said.

In May 2021, TMS Cardiff Gas took delivery of LNGShips Manhattan, wrapping up its 2020-2021 newbuild program which included eleven 174,000-cbm vessels.

The company’s fleet also includes four 2014-built ships, the 2004-built Fuji LNG, and the 2006-built Condor LNG, its website shows.

TMS Cardiff Gas also has seven LNG carriers on order at South Korean yards and scheduled for delivery during 2024 and 2026, according to VesselsValue data.
