LNG-powered PSV joins Borealis fleet

UK-based shipping firm Borealis Maritime has taken delivery of an LNG-powered platform supply vessel from Poland’s Remontowa.

Sweden’s Viking Supply Ships will operate and commercially manage the Coey Viking PSV as part of a deal it signed with Borealis in October 2019. The Swedish firm partially owns the newbuild.

Remontowa said it handed over the dual-fuel newbuild on January 16 and the vessel will soon depart to start work in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.

The 89 meters long PSV is the first out of two the Gdansk yard is building for the duo. The sister vessel will join later this year.

Both of the Wartsila-designed vessels will sail on LNG or MGO but they also feature a battery pack.
