Finland’s Hamina LNG offers capacity for April-June

Finland’s Hamina LNG terminal is offering spot capacities for April-June this year, while it also expanded its offering with the completion of its first terminal-to-ship bunkering operation.

The LNG terminal operator is a joint venture consisting of Finland’s Hamina Energy, tech firm Wartsila, and Estonia’s energy company Alexela.

Hamina LNG, which launched commercial operations in October 2022, provides storage services from one 30,000-cbm LNG tank as well as regasification and injection services into the Finnish gas transmission network with a daily capacity of 6,000 MWh.

Other services include LNG truck loading, vessel unloading and loading, and bunkering.

According to a statement by Hamina LNG, the spot capacities for April-June are available for the existing terminal users, meaning that new market participants wishing to receive spot capacities may request to enter into a terminal services contract.

“Annual capacity for the rest of the current gas year is also available, and all capacities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis,” it said.

The LNG terminal operator is offering slots for storage service, slots for regasification service, and slots for truck loading capacity.

Besides this, Hamina LNG said on Thursday that in cooperation with Rohe Solutions and Glander International Bunkering it has completed the first ever ship LNG bunkering this week.

It did not provide further information regarding the terminal-to-ship operation.

Last year, Rohe Solutions, a joint venture of Hamina Energy and Alexela, revealed plans to liquefy biogas at the Hamina LNG terminal.

The firm said at the time it plans to liquefy biogas from the grid at the LNG terminal with first pilot deliveries of bio-LNG expected in the first quarter of 2024.
