AG&P says opens first LCNG station in India’s Rajasthan

A unit of Singapore’s downstream LNG player AG&P has launched a liquefied and compressed natural gas station in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan.

AG&P Pratham, the firm’s city gas distribution arm in India, opened the LCNG station on Thursday in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, as the largest state in India shifts into a gas-based economy.

AG&P claims this is the first LCNG station in the entire state of Rajasthan.

In addition, the station features two storage tanks with a capacity of 56 MT of LNG but also gasification facilities. It would ensure uninterrupted access of natural gas to commercial, industrial, and residential customers not connected to the gas pipeline, AG&P said.

This includes owners and drivers of any LNG and CNG-powered vehicle, it said.

With the opening of the LCNG station, Jodhpur now has six AG&P Pratham CNG stations in operation while the firm aims to add three next month.

Furthermore, AG&P Pratham also lays pipelines in Jodhpur to deliver piped natural gas directly into homes, businesses, and factories.

AG&P plans a network in India covering more than 278,000 square kilometers in 31 districts across five states. The network includes setting up over 1,500 CNG stations and more than 17,000 km of pipelines, the firm said.
