Belgium’s Fluxys says its Zeebrugge LNG terminal logged a record number of ship operations due to a rising number of transshipments and despite a decline in unloads and reloads.
The LNG facility located in the port of Zeebrugge in total conducted 172 ship operations during 2020. This compares to 130 operations in the year before.
In addition, most of these operations were transshipments with LNG coming from the Novatek-operated Yamal project in the Russian Arctic.
The facility hosted 111 transshipments last year, compared to 38 in the prior year, according to Fluxys.
Zeebrugge LNG unloaded in total 50 cargoes, compared to 71 in 2019. Small-scale reloads also dropped to 10 compared to 20 in the year before while conventional reloads remained flat at one shipment, Fluxys said.
Moreover, the facility hosted record truck loading operations. It loaded 3195 trucks against 2620, an increase of 22%.
On top of that, January 2021 marked a new monthly record with 418 truck loading operations, the firm said.
