Sweden’s OxGas, a unit of the Port of Oxelosund, has handed out a contract to France’s Tissot Industrie to build an LNG tank as part of its planned facility on the Baltic Sea.
OxGas revealed the contract on Tuesday saying Tissot would build a 32,900 cbm LNG tank for the project managed by Denmark’s Cowi Engineering.
The Swedish firm did not disclose financial details of the contract only saying it would continue to work with the duo to “close the permit process and accelerate the project together.”
Port of Oxelosund formed OxGas to build and operate a multi-functional terminal for liquefied methane-based fuels in the eastern part of the port.
Besides selecting Cowi as environmental and technical consultants, OxGas said last year it appointed MAN Energy Solutions to act as “owners engineer” in the development and construction of the facility.
The terminal will deliver both LNG and green methane derived from biogas to SSAB ’s steel production in Oxelosund. It will also redistribute the fuel via train and trailers to other parts of Sweden.
In addition, the facility will also feature a bunkering solution enabling vessels to bunker LNG and other methane-based fuels in the port.
OxGas aims to launch the facility in the fourth quarter of 2022.
