Gasum, Equinor extend LNG bunkering pact

Finnish state-owned energy firm and LNG supplier, Gasum, will continue to bunker Equinor’s fleet of chartered LNG-powered vessels under a new deal revealed on Tuesday.

Gasum said in a statement this new agreement builds on the success of the previous contract the firm had signed with Equinor.

It did not reveal the duration of the deal or additional details of the contract.

The firm said it will use its chartered bunkering vessels Coralius, Kairos, and Coral Energy for the bunkering operations.

The agreement also includes additional support services such as cooling down and gassing up, which has also been a part of Gasum’s previous collaboration with Equinor.

Gasum has organized three separate LNG cool down operations for Equinor in Skagen so far this year, it said.

The Finnish firm is significantly boosting its production of bio-LNG to supply it to its customers in the maritime sector and in the heavy-duty road transport sector.

Gasum’s strategic goal is to bring 7 TWh of biogas yearly to the market by 2027.

This goal includes building five large-scale biogas plants in Gotene, Borlange, Kalmar, Sjobo, and Horby in southern Sweden.
