Shell fuels Stando’s LNG-powered truck fleet

Poland’s Stando Group has teamed up with a unit of energy giant Shell to fuel its LNG-powered fleet of trucks as it looks to cut emissions but also fuel costs.

Stando, a firm specialized in the transport of liquid food products and animal feeds, is one
of the first companies in Poland to build a low-emission fleet of semi-trailer trucks, the duo said in a joint statement.

The company operates a fleet of more than 20 Iveco Stralis LNG trucks that travel throughout Europe taking fuel at Shell stations.

Shell is buiilding a network of LNG and bio-LNG stations across Europe. The firm is a partner
in the BioLNG EuroNet project, which plans to build 39 filling stations throughout Europe, including eight in Poland.

To remind, the Hague-based energy giant launched its first LNG filling station for trucks in Poland last year.

Shifting to LNG-powered trucks has allowed the Stando fleet to cut fuel costs by nearly 36% but also achieve “considerably lower” greenhouse gas emissions, according to the statement.

In addition, LNG-fueled trucks travel toll-free in Germany, which also “generates several thousand euros more in annual savings,” Stando said.
