Vitol’s unit ViGo launches three LNG stations in Germany

Vitol’s subsidiary ViGo Bioenergy has added three new liquefied natural gas (LNG) stations for vehicles to its network in Germany.

ViGo announced the launch of the bio-LNG stations in a statement issued on Monday.

The company’s stations in Alsfeld and Hirschberg launched operations on Monday, while the station Osterfeld will start operations on Wednesday.

ViGo said the stations will supply 100 percent bio-LNG to its customers.

Back in 2021, energy trader Vitol bought a majority share in Berlin-based LNG firm Liquind, now named ViGo Bioenergy.

According to its website, the company has at least 30 stations in operation with more planned.

Earlier this year, ViGo launched a fixed station in Germany’s Braunschweig, replacing a mobile station.

Data by Gmobility, a part of NGVA Europe, showed last month that Germany has 184 LNG refueling stations, while Italy hosts 151 such stations and Spain hosts 98 stations.

Europe in total hosts 728 LNG stations for vehicles.
