CMA CGM confirms March delivery for 6th LNG-powered ULCV

French shipping group CMA CGM has confirmed it would take delivery of the sixth out of nine ultra-large LNG-powered containerships next month after the vessel completed gas trials.

The 23,000 TEU CMA CGM Montmartre wrapped up gas trials and returned to CSSC’s Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai on January 29, the shipping firm said.

This is the third ULCV for Jiangan that previously handed over Champs Elysees and Louvre, while Hudong-Zhonghua delivered the flagship Jacques Saade, Palais Royal, and Rivoli.

Hudong also plans to deliver CMA CGM Concorde in April as the vessel recently completed its sea trials.

Following this delivery, Jiangnan will hand over Trocadero to CMA CGM while Hudong will deliver Sorbonne, completing the project consisting of nine LNG-powered vessels.

All of the ships feature WinGD’s dual-fuel engines and GTT’s 18,600-cbm fuel tank, both largest ever built.

Moreover, the world’s largest LNG-powered ships are 400 meters long and 61 meters wide and CMA CGM will deploy them on the Europe-Asia route.
