Total’s PitPoint launches Dutch LNG station

Total’s unit PitPoint has opened a new LNG filling station for trucks in the Dutch city of Deventer, close to the German border.

Pitpoint started building the multiple-energy station last year at the new A1 business park in Deventer.

In addition, PitPoint says this marks the first LNG station at one of Total’s existing facilities in the Netherlands but also the 30th LNG station overall in the country.

The station features two LNG pumps and the firm may also add hydrogen fueling facilities in the future.

Dutch transport companies are increasingly making the switch from diesel to LNG to slash emissions but also costs.

Moreover, transport firms sending trucks to Germany also benefit from financial advantages as LNG-powered trucks in the country travel toll-free until the end of 2023.

PitPoint previously said that the new station is also a response to this development as a full LNG tank loaded at the Deventer station would provide enough fuel to reach “every corner of Germany”.
