Dutch Rolande says it has opened its fourth LNG filling station for vehicles in Germany as it works on establishing a network in the country.
The Lubeck facility marks the first filling station in Germany the firm launched in cooperation with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation subsidiary IDS-Q8, one of Europe’s biggest fuel card providers and owner of an international network of truck filling locations.
With two LNG pumps, the filling station has a daily capacity of up to 150 vehicles.
In addition to the new base, the two firms already operate an LNG filling station in Rotterdam, Botlek.
With the new launch, the duo connects two important locations in the transport sector: the ports of Rotterdam and Lubeck, Rolande said.
Furthermore, by the end of the year, they plan to open two other stations at the IDS-Q8 locations in Grasdorf and Ziesar, Rolande said.
The market for LNG as a truck fuel is growing strongly in Germany but also the Netherlands, as owners look to slash emissions and due to tax schemes and a road tax exemption for LNG-powered trucks until the end of 2023.
This makes for savings of up to 18.7 cents in road tolls per driven kilometre for the operators, Rolande said.
