Italy’s Gruber Logistics orders 100 Iveco LNG trucks

Italian logistics firm Gruber Logistics has ordered 100 vehicles powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) from compatriot Iveco as it looks to slash emissions and costs.

Iveco will deliver the 100 S-Way LNG trucks by the end of the year, according to a joint statement.

In addition, the Italian logistics firm based in Auer, South Tyrol already operates a fleet of twelve Iveco LNG trucks, including two in Lithuania.

According to Iveco, these new vehicles feature technology that can slash CO2 emissions by 95% compared to their diesel equivalents when going on biomethane.

The new trucks add to already existing 3,500 LNG-powered units in Italy, including those registered abroad, according to a recent report by consultancy REF-E.

Furthermore, Italian LNG filling station network continues to grow and the country now has 105 such facilities for trucks. These include LNG and L-CNG stations, the report said.
