Gasunie names interim finance chief

Dutch gas grid and LNG terminal operator Gasunie has appointed Jan Boekelman as interim chief financial officer with effect from February 11.

Boekelman, who was previously CFO at Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) and development organization SNV, will be taking over from Janneke Hermes, who is joining Koninklijke Wagenborg after 23 years at Gasunie.

According to Gasunie, Boekelman started his career at energy giant Shell, where he spent 15 years in various domestic and international financial roles.

He was then planning and control director for 7 years at Nuon (now Vattenfall), before being appointed CFO and HR chief at SNV and then later CFO at EBN.

Gasunie said Boekelman will start working immediately so that he and Hermes can ensure a thorough handover and continuity.

Gasunie and compatriot Vopak operate both Dutch LNG import terminals in Rotterdam and Eemshaven.

Outside the Netherlands, Gasunie and German energy firm RWE took the final investment decision last year on the German government-backed onshore LNG import terminal in Brunsbüttel.

Gasunie has a 40 percent operating stake in the facility, RWE has 10 percent, while the German government, through KfW, holds 50 percent.
