Italy’s Snam launches two natural gas filling stations

Italy’s Snam and partners have opened two new natural gas filling stations for cars and trucks in Rome, continuing to develop a nationwide network.

Snam4Mobility, a unit of the energy firm, developed the new stations in partnership with two local fuel distribution operators, namely Goldengas and Enerpetroli.

The stations, which are located in via di Torre Spaccata and in via di Tor Cervara, strengthen the supply of natural gas, an alternative fuel for sustainable mobility, in Lazio and in particular in the area of the capital, Snam said in a statement.

The first refueling station, managed by Goldengas, marks the fifth station in Lazio to supply LNG for heavy vehicles, Snam said.

In addition, the plant in via di Torre Spaccata offers Bio-LNG or liquefied biomethane processed from organic waste.

The distributor in via di Tor Cervara, managed by Enerpetroli, is the second of nine as part of a deal the two companies previously signed. In total, it marks the eightieth station in the region to supply CNG.

As part of the agreement, Snam4Mobility and Enerpetroli will also launch new stations in Umbria.

Furthermore, the new openings are part Snam4Mobility’s commitment to provide integrated services for sustainable “smart green” natural gas and biomethane mobility, the Italian firm said.

To strengthen the distribution network, Snam4Mobility develops CNG and Bio-CNG distribution infrastructure for cars and LNG and Bio-LNG for heavy transport throughout Italy.

Snam’s 2020-2024 strategic plan envisages the construction of 150 new natural gas and biomethane refueling stations and the launch of the first five hydrogen refueling facilities, according to Snam.
