French LNG containment giant GTT has signed a strategic cooperation deal with China’s Cosco Shipping LNG Investment (Shanghai) and Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry.
GTT said in a statement this is the company’s first agreement with CSLNG, which specializes in LNG transportation project investment, shipbuilding, and management.
GTT and CHI, a large-scale heavy industry enterprise, including shipbuilding, offshore engineering and construction, which operates 9 shipyards, had previously signed a cooperation agreement in January 2018,
The deal, which includes newbuilding, maintenance, and retrofits of LNG carriers and LNG-fueled ships, was renewed in May 2020.
GTT said the three parties have agreed to carry out an in-depth partnership in the fields of LNG carriers, ultra large ethane carriers (ULECs), very large ethane carriers (VLECs), FLNGs, as well as LNG and ammonia as fuel solutions for very large crude carriers (VLCCs).
Additionally, this agreement aims to foster closer collaboration between their technical divisions to promote the application of GTT’s membrane technology in the above fields, the firm said.
It also highlights a shared effort to innovate, to develop new project and to promote educational training for young talents in the LNG sector.
“We are proud to start this strategic cooperation with CSLNG and CHI,” Adnan Ezzarhouni, general manager of GTT China said.
“This partnership not only reinforces the trust between shipowners, shipyards, and GTT but also paves the way for delivering innovating and efficient solutions to meet the evolving requirements of the energy industry,” he said.
ASRY deal
GTT said in a separate social media post it has also signed a technical services agreement (TSAR) with ASRY Shipyard (Bahreïn) on February 1.
Through this agreement, ASRY demonstrates its ability to maintain, repair, and convert membrane-type LNG carriers, meeting GTT’s safety and quality standards, GTT said.
ASRY team will receive dedicated training from GTT experts to prepare for each maintenance operation.
“This agreement marks a new step in strengthening the global LNG infrastructure, ensuring high-quality maintenance solutions for shipowners worldwide,” GTT added.
