Spain’s Sagunto LNG terminal gets 1000th cargo

Saggas, the operator of the LNG terminal owned 72.5 percent by Spain’s Enagas, announced the arrival of the milestone cargo in a statement on Thursday.

Besides Enagas, Osaka Gas and Oman Oil are shareholders in Saggas as well.

According to Saggas, Hellas Athina arrived from the US and it delivered a cargo of 7,754 cbm of LNG to the Sgunto terminal.

Last month, the 2021-built 174,000-cbm LNG carrier, which is on charter to Trafigura, picked up the cargo at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi plant, its AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows.

The data shows that prior to arriving at the Sgunto LNG terminal, the vessel visited Jordan’s Aqaba LNG terminal.

Since the Sagunto plant began commercial operations in 2006, Saggas has unloaded around 173.5 million cubic meters of LNG, equivalent to 725,006 GWh of energy, the firm said.

The plant has received LNG from 21 different countries, with the main suppliers being Algeria, Nigeria, and the US.

It has 1,150,000 Nm3/h installed regasification capacity and four storage tanks with a total capacity of 600,000 cbm of LNG.

Besides this facility, Spain’s Bahia de Bizkaia Gas (BBG) recently also received the 1000th cargo of LNG at its regasification plant in the port of Bilbao since 2003.

BBG is 50 percent owned by the Basque government via the Basque Energy Agency and 50 percent by Enagas.

Besides Saunto and Bilbao, also owns 75 percent of the Musel LNG facility, and it has three wholly-owned LNG import plants in Barcelona, Huelva, and Cartagena, while Reganosa operates the Mugardos plant.
