Uniper’s Liqvis adds another German LNG station

Liqvis, a unit of energy firm Uniper, has now opened an LNG filling station for trucks in Germany following the recent launch in France.

The new LNG filling station is located in Langenhagen, near the northern German city of Hannover.

Liqvis says this filling station complements the firm’s growing LNG network in Germany but also in France.

According to its website, Liqvis now has five operational LNG filling stations in Germany and three under development. In addition, it has two filling stations in France.

The market for LNG as a truck fuel is growing rapidly in Germany as owners look to slash emissions, but also a road tax exemption for such vehicles until the end of 2023.

A recent report by consultancy Team Consult says Germany had 43 LNG filling stations by the end of 2020 and should have around 88 operational stations by the end of this year.
