Hoglund to upgrade Base Marine’s cargo ship to go on LNG

Norway’s Hoglund has signed a contract with oilfield services provider Halliburton to upgrade an old dry cargo ship owned by Base Marine to run on LNG.

The 5932-dwt Ro-Ro Hannah Kristina, built in 1999, is under technical management by Larvik Shipping while Halliburton is the charterer.

According to Hoglund, the project aims to improve the vessel’s environmental footprint by converting its diesel propulsion into dual-fuel.

Hoglund said it would supply a 250 cbm LNG fuel gas supply system (FGSS) but also a shore power connection.

In addition, the Norwegian firm said it would join forces with long-time partners HB Hunte Engineering and Fiskerstrand Verft for the naval architecture and shipyard elements of the DNV-classed project.

Hoglund expects delivery of the retrofitted vessel to take place in March 2022.
