Singapore’s Pacific International Lines (PIL) has added another LNG-fueled vessel to its fleet.
China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding held a naming ceremony for the LNG dual-fuel Kota Oasis on April 25.
PIL said in a statement that this is the first in a series of four 8,200 teu LNG dual-fuel container vessels it ordered from Yangzijiang.
These newbuild O class vessels are part of PIL’s long-term plan to optimize its network deployment and renew its fleet for greater operational efficiency.
The vessels are quipped with WinGD’s XDF engines with iCER (intelligent control by exhaust recycling), which reduce methane emissions.
PIL said Kota Oasis will be its fifth LNG-powered vessel to be delivered, joining the four 14,000 teu LNG vessels delivered since last year.
In March, PIL took delivery of the fourth LNG-powered vessel, Kota Embun, built by China’s Jiangnan.
PIL has another 13 LNG dual-fuel vessels on order to be delivered over the next few years.
Most recently, PIL ordered five 9,000 teu LNG dual-fuel container ships from China’s Hudong-Zhonghua.
This order boosted the company’s newbuild vessels ordered since 2022 to 18.
