Himalaya’s LNG-fueled bulkers earned $25,800 per day in April

LNG-powered bulker owner Himalaya Shipping achieved average time charter equivalent earnings of about $25,800 per day in April.

The shipping firm said in a commercial update that the average time charter rate includes average daily scrubber and LNG benefits on 12 vessels of about $1,500 per day.

Tor Olav Trøim-backed Himalaya said the company’s two vessels trading on fixed time charters earned about $32,700 per day, gross, including average daily scrubber and LNG benefits.

The company’s ten vessels trading on index-linked time charters earned approximately $24,400 per day, gross, including average daily scrubber and LNG benefits.

The Baltic 5TC Capesize Index averaged $16,022 during April 2025.

In March, Himalaya achieved average time charter equivalent earnings of about $30,400 per day, gross.

Himalaya’s board has approved a cash distribution of $0.025 per share for April.

The company has 12 LNG-powered Newcastlemax bulk carriers in its fleet.

China’s New Times delivered Himalaya’s final bulk carrier, Mount Emai, in June 2024.

In March, Himalaya completed a private placement of $15 million in new shares.

Himalaya said the purpose of the placement was to “attract key, strategic shareholders to the company, and to raise proceeds to be used for general corporate purposes.”
