LNG-powered CMA CGM Concorde completes gas trials

CMA CGM’s seventh out of nine ultra-large LNG-powered containerships has completed gas trials ahead of its delivery planned for next month.

Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua said the 23,000 TEU Concorde wrapped up the trials on March 15 in “record” six days for the series.

Concorde is the fourth out of five vessels Hudong is building for France’s CMA CGM while Jiangnan Shipyard is constructing four ULCVs in this batch of nine world’s largest LNG-powered vessels.

Jiangnan should soon deliver the sixth vessel named Montmartre.

Following these two deliveries, Jiangnan will hand over Trocadero to CMA CGM while Hudong will deliver Sorbonne, completing the entire project.

All of the ships feature WinGD’s dual-fuel engines and GTT’s 18,600-cbm fuel tank.

In addition, the LNG-powered giants are 400 meters long and 61 meters wide and CMA CGM will deploy them on the Europe-Asia route.
