Oceaneering clinches GTA gig

Houston-based Oceaneering International has secured a multi-year contract from a unit of UK-based energy giant BP to provide services in the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field, located offshore Mauritania and Senegal.

Oceaneering’s offshore projects group secured the contract from BP Mauritania Investments to provide subsea inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) services and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services.

According to a statement by Oceaneering, the firm will support this contract with one of its multi-purpose vessels outfitted with two Oceaneering work-class ROVs.

The scope of work will also include project management, engineering, and integration services provided by Oceaneering’s local and international personnel.

Engineering and pre-mobilization activities have started, with field operations expected to kick off in the second quarter of 2025.

Oceaneering said the initial contract duration is three years, with two one-year options to extend.

The company did not provide the financial details of the contract.

Earlier this week, US-based Kosmos Energy said that BP and its partners were loading the second LNG cargo produced at the GTA FLNG project.

The 2019-built 173,400-cbm, British Sponsor, which is on charter to BP, loaded the first shipment last month.

The first phase of the project features Golar LNG’s FLNG Gimi and the Tortue FPSO.

BP operates GTA with a 56 percent working interest alongside Kosmos Energy (27 percent), Petrosen (10 percent), and SMH (7 percent).
