Wartsila to support Minerva LNG quintet

Wartsila has signed long-term maintenance agreements for five LNG carriers with Greek shipper Minerva Gas.

Finland-based Wartsila said in a statement on Thursday it signed the deals in March. They include Wartsila’s service that leverages artificial intelligence and diagnostics to monitor equipment and systems in real-time.

The vessels covered by the agreements are Minerva Kalymnos, Chios, and Amorgos. WinGD X-DF two-stroke, dual-fuel main engines power these LNG carriers.

In addition, the deals also include Minerva Psara and Limnos, which operate with Wartsila 34DF four-stroke dual-fuel auxiliary engines, the Finnish firm said.

To remind, Minerva Gas, a unit of Andreas Martinos-led Minerva Marine, already took delivery of two of these LNG carriers.

South Korea’s Samsung Heavy has recently delivered the first out of three 174,000 cbm newbuilds while Daewoo Shipbuilding handed over the first out two 173,400-cbm vessels it builds for the Greek shipper in January.
