Shell’s Norwegian unit Gasnor has signed a five-year deal to supply liquefied natural gas for compatriot Egil Ulvan Rederi’s new LNG-powered ship currently under construction in Turkey.
Gasnor said in a statement that Tersan should deliver the multi-purpose cargo vessel named Oddrun With to Ulvan in May.
Following delivery, Gasnor would fill the ship’s 360-cbm type C LNG tank every 14 days via its chartered bunkering vessels, the firm said adding that the operations would mainly take place in Møhlenpriskaienn in Bergen.
The 3,500-dwt vessel will trade a roundtrip route serving the Norwegian coast from Østfold to Tromsø. It is a multipurpose design with reefer capacity, a refrigerated hold, and elevators for palletised goods, as well as the capability to discharge fish food at fish farms.
Designed by Multi Maritime, the vessel features MAN Energy Solutions’ LNG fuel system but also Kongsberg Maritime’s power and propulsion system, including a battery pack.
Tersan launched the 86 meters long vessel in August last year. Ulvan’s latest update said the vessel would start operations in Norway in summer.
