Gaz-System merges with Polish LNG terminal operator

Poland’s Gaz-System and its unit Polskie LNG, the operator of the country’s only regasification terminal in Swinoujscie, have completed the previously announced merger.

To remind, the duo signed the merger agreement in October last year.

“The main goal of the integration is to increase the efficiency of the management of investment processes, which were carried out by the companies separately until the merger,” Gaz System said in a statement last week.

Poland’s gas infrastructure operator added it would take over all existing activities of Polskie LNG as the legal successor of the company.

Polskie LNG is currently in the midst of expansion works that will boost the current regasification capacity of the first and only LNG terminal in Poland by 50 percent.

The expansion consists of two phases with the first already underway. This phase includes building two regasification units and Polskie LNG expects works to complete by the end of this year.

The second phase, targeted for completion in 2023, will see the addition of the facility’s second tank and a new jetty.

Once complete, the terminal will have a total regasification capacity of about 8.3 bcm per year but it will also feature an LNG-to-rail installation extending the range of its services.

In addition, the second jetty will have the ability of loading and unloading vessels as well as handling LNG bunkering ships.
