GasLog’s LNG newbuild starts sea trials

LNG shipper GasLog said its newbuild carrier GasLog Westminister left the South Korean Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard for sea trials.

The vessel with the hull number 2262 will complete the trials on Saturday, according to the Greece-based LNG shipper.

The 180,000 cubic meter vessel has similar specifications as the recently-delivered GasLog Wales that started its charter with Japan’s Jera.

It features GTT’s Mark III Flex Plus containment system and WinGD’s low-pressure two-stroke (X-DF) propulsion.

Gaslog expects to take the delivery of GasLog Westminister in the third quarter of this year after which the vessel will start a long-term charter with a unit of UK’s Centrica.

Gaslog has a further four vessels on order at Samsung Heavy with delivery dates scheduled during 2020-2021.
