Colombia-based industrial services firm Magnex has secured a geotechnical maintenance contract from Peru LNG, the operator of the 4.4 mtpa LNG plant at Pampa Melchorita.
According to a Magnex statement, the contract will begin in March 2026.
It will have a duration of five years, with the option to be extended for an additional three years.
Magnex said the scope includes geotechnical maintenance services, maintenance of access roads, excavations, and civil works associated with Peru LNG’s main gas pipeline.
The firm did not disclose the contract price.
The Peru LNG pipeline’s approximate starting point is at kilometer 211 of the Transportadora de Gas del Peru (TgP) pipeline, in the community of Chiquintirca, in the Ayacucho region, and its endpoint is the Peru LNG plant.
US-based Hunt operates the LNG plant with a 35 percent stake, while Japan’s Marubeni has 10 percent and UK-based LNG giant Shell, which offtakes all of the volumes, has a 20 percent stake in the LNG terminal operator.
In 2024, MidOcean Energy, the LNG unit of US-based energy investor EIG, completed the purchase of an additional 15 percent interest in Peru LNG from Hunt Oil.
MidOcean’s interest in Peru LNG now stands at 35 percent.
EIG also recently acquired a 49.87 percent equity stake in TgP from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
