Meg O’Neill on Tuesday started her role as acting chief executive officer of Australia’s biggest LNG firm Woodside.

O’Neill takes over as acting CEO as Peter Coleman’s decade at Woodside draws to a close, the firm said in a statement.

“We thank Peter for his determined leadership that has cemented Woodside as a safe and reliable supplier of energy, ready for future opportunities,” Woodside said.

“We wish him the very best in his retirement. He will always be a part of the Woodside family,” the firm said.

To remind, Woodside said in December it had launched an internal and external search for the company’s next chief after Coleman announced plans to retire.

Following the announcement, the firm said on April 15 that the company’s executive vice president of development and marketing Meg O’Neill would start working as acting CEO from April 20.

O’Neill joined Woodside from ExxonMobil in May 2018 where she held a variety of senior leadership roles in operations and developments but also country leadership in Norway and Canada.

In addition, Woodside said its board continues to search for the next CEO.
