China’s Jiangnan Shipyard has launched the second very large gas carrier for Belgian shipowner Exmar.
The yard in Shanghai held a launching ceremony for the vessel to be named Flanders Pioneer on April 17, according to Exmar.
Jiangnan moved the vessel to one of the outfitting berths where the construction works would continue, it said.
To remind, Jiangnan launched the sister ship Flanders Innovation last year.
Both of the 86,000-cbm carriers will sail on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Furthermore, Exmar expects to take delivery of the VLGCs later this year after they will start work for Norwegian energy giant Equinor.
Exmar operates a large fleet of vessels including LPG and LNG tankers, two FSRUs but also Tango FLNG.
