SLNG announced in a social media post on Thursday that it has awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the development of its tertiary jetty to Rotary Engineering.
The new jetty will provide small-scale LNG unloading and reloading capabilities and play a “key role” in supporting the further growth of LNG bunkering in Singapore, the LNG terminal operator said.
SLNG did not provide further details.
According to SLNG’s website, the tertiary jetty can accommodate up to 80,000-cbm LNG carriers, with the civil structure already completed and topsides to be installed.
SLNG’s facility on Jurong Island, Singapore’s first LNG import facility, has three 180,000-cbm and one 260,000-cbm LNG tanks.
Its primary jetty is able to receive 120,000-cbm to 265,000-cbm LNG carriers, while the secondary jetty is designed for 60,000-cbm to 265,000-cbm LNG carriers, and modified to also reload 2,000-cbm to 10,000-cbm carriers.
In August last year, SLNG also kicked off construction on a new truck loading facility to meet growing demand for trucked LNG in Singapore.

with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) as part of a pilot project to kickstart the development of LNG trucking and bunkering in Singapore.
Second LNG project
In addition to the onshore LNG terminal, SLNG is building the country’s first FSRU-based facility.
The company and contractor China Communications Construction Company recently officially kicked off construction on the onshore connecting infrastructure for Singapore’s second LNG terminal.
Among other things, the onshore infrastructure will house key facilities such as the main process area, a jetty for the FSRU, and pipelines that will deliver natural gas into the national grid, SLNG said.
As per the FSRU, South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean officially began construction of MOL’s 240,000-cbm, which will serve Singapore’s second LNG import project, in October last year.
SLNG will charter the unit under a deal it signed with Japan’s MOL in October 2024.
