Wartsila to support Latsco’s LNG carriers

Finland’s Wartsila has signed a five-year maintenance agreement for two LNG carriers with a unit of Greece’s Latsco Shipping.

The engine maker and Latsco LNG Marine Management signed the deal in March, according to a Wartsila statement.

The agreement covers the main engines for the 174,000-cbm LNG carriers Hellas Diana and Hellas Athina.

In addition to asset diagnostics, maintenance planning, annual audits and spare parts, Wartsila said it would also provide the vessels with remote support and condition monitoring systems, including the company’s predictive maintenance service.

To remind, Latsco Shipping, a unit of Latsis Group, has recently welcomed Hellas Diana in its fleet, the firm’s first-ever LNG newbuild.

South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries should deliver the second vessel in September.

Commodity trader Trafigura has chartered both of the LNG carriers.

As per specifications, the new vessels are 297 meters long and about 46 meters wide.

Both of the newbuilds feature WinGD’s dual-fuel X-DF engines and GTT’s MARK III Flex containment system.
