Zachry to work with KBR on Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG project

US firm Venture Global LNG said that compatriot construction company Zachry Group would join KBR to build its Plaquemines LNG project in Louisiana.

To remind, Venture Global selected engineer KBR as the lead contractor for the LNG export development in November last year.

As part of the new move, KBR and Zachry will together, through a new joint venture named KZJV, execute the development, engineering, procurement and construction under the EPC contract for the first phase of Plaquemines LNG, according to Venture Global.

Moreover, KZJV will integrate modularized, owner-furnished equipment for the 10 million tonnes per annum nameplate facility.

Plaquemines LNG will deploy Venture Global’s liquefaction trains 19 through 36, identical to the 18 trains currently being delivered and installed at Venture Global LNG’s Calcasieu Pass project.

The project has previously received all required regulatory approvals.

Additionally, Plaquemines LNG has binding 20-year offtake agreements with Poland’s PGNiG for 2.5 mtpa and France’s EDF for 1 mtpa capacity.

The full project would have 20 mtpa capacity, four tanks and three jetties.

According to Venture Global’s website, the firm plans to take a final investment decision on Plaquemines LNG in mid-2021. Commercial operations should start in 2024.
