According to MOL, the firm has already completed the first LNG bunkering operation under this contract on April 29.
MOL did not provide any additional details regarding the contract.
Since completing the first LNG bunkering on the West Coast of North America in March 2025, MOL has conducted several additional LNG bunkering operations in the region.
MOL said North America is one of the key trade lanes for car carriers, and with the recent delivery of new LNG-fueled vessels, securing a stable LNG fuel supply in the area has become increasingly important.
Moreover, this contract “underscores the company’s commitment to establishing a stable and seamless regional LNG fuel procurement framework,” MOL said.
MOL added that it would “continue to expand the service areas for LNG-fueled vessels and proactively support the growth of a clean supply chain.”
As part of its plans to reduce emissions, MOL has set a target to operate 90 LNG-powered and methanol-fueled vessels by 2030.
Seaspan Energy is a part of Seaspan Marine, a group of Canadian companies that are primarily involved in ship assist, coastal and deep-sea transportation, ferry services and fuel bunkering on the West Coast of North America.
The company owns three LNG bunkering vessels built by China’s CIMC SOE.
