RPGCL issued the tender to the 24 organizations that have signed the MSPA (master sale and purchase agreement) with Petrobangla for LNG supply on a spot basis.
The tender was issued on Monday, and it closes on June 16.
RPGCL’s data show that it issued tenders for 31 spot LNG cargoes this year.
Before this tender, RPGCL sought bids for three LNG cargoes on June 1, with delivery dates June 26-27, June 30-July 1, and July 6-7.
According to local media reports, two of these cargoes would be supplied by TotalEnergies and one by BP.
Qatar, which declared force majeure to its LNG buyers on March 4, is the main LNG supplier to Bangladesh via long-term LNG deals.
Bangladesh currently imports LNG via two FSRU-based facilities, both of which feature Excelerate Energy’s FSRUs.
The 138,000-cbm FSRU Excellence serves Bangladesh’s first LNG import facility, Moheshkhali Floating LNG or MLNG, operated by Petrobangla.
Excelerate’s 138,000-cbm FSRU Summit LNG serves as the second LNG import facility operated by Summit.
