South Korea’s Hyundai Samho nets order to build one LNG tanker

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries will build one LNG carrier for an unidentified owner as part of a contract revealed on Monday.

Parent firm Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering said in a filing to the stock exchange the deal has a price tag of about 209.9 billion won ($187.3 million).

Furthermore, Hyundai Samho will deliver the vessel to a Europe-based owner by October 2023, according to the filling.

KSOE did not reveal any additional information.

Hyundai Samho has in January this year also won an order for a single carrier from Russia’s Sovmcoflot. This 174,000-cbm vessel will go on charter to Total.

In addition, Belgium-based independent oil shipping firm Euronav recently ordered two LNG-ready very large crude carriers at the Korean yard.
