Molgas secures Bilbao LNG bunkering license

European small-scale LNG player Molgas, backed by French infrastructure fund investor InfraVia, has secured an operating license to supply LNG fuel to vessels via truck-to-ship operations at the Spanish port of Bilbao.

Madrid-based Molgas announced on Friday via its social media channels that its marine unit had secured the 10-year license, strengthening its ability to continue developing new supply opportunities across Spanish ports.

The firm did not provide further details.

“In addition, in recent weeks, we took part in the presentation of the new LNG supply tender model at the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility. We participated as part of the Gasnam working group specializing in TTS operations, contributing our expertise to the development of the sector,” Molgas said.

Molgas has significantly expanded its LNG bunkering business over the last few years.

In October 2025, Molgas finalized the full acquisition of Dutch LNG supplier Titan.

The transaction followed Molgas’ initial 45 percent minority stake purchase in Titan in 2023.

Molgas said this expanded footprint positions the group as a “pan-European leader” in downstream LNG and bio-LNG solutions for industrial, road transport, and marine customers.
