France’s GTT has secured a new tank design order from South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries for one 174,000-cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier.

GTT announced in a statement that it secured the order in the second quarter of 2026.

The French firm said the vessels’ cryogenic tanks would be fitted with its Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

Delivery of the vessel is expected in first quarter of 2029.

GTT said that an Oceania-based shipowner had ordered the vessel from Samsung Heavy, but it did not provide further details.

Last month, Samsung Heavy announced that it would build one LNG carrier for an unidentified owner in Oceania for approximately $252 million.

Samsung Heavy will deliver the LNG carrier by January 2029.

Sources said at the time that London-based Purus Marine is behind this order.

Purus Marine was also tied to a $252 million order for one LNG carrier at Samsung Heavy in March this year.
