GTT bags contract for Petronas-chartered LNG carriers

GTT’s marine unit has secured a contract to equip Petronas-chartered liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers with its digital solutions.

As part of this collaboration, GTT Marine will support Malaysia’s Petronas in implementing an integrated approach to overall vessel performance, helping to enhance operational efficiency, control costs, and reduce emissions, according to a statement by France’s GTT.

This commitment can also be extended to accommodate the future expansion of the Petronas-chartered LNG carrier fleet, the LNG tank specialist said.

GTT said the suite of solutions includes monitoring vessel performance, optimizing voyages and reducing emissions, and enhancing visibility over cargo operations.

The firm did not provide further details regarding the LNG carriers or the contract price.

Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua recently delivered two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers, Puteri Johor and Puteri Kedah, to Japan’s K Line and Petronas.

In addition, Petronas signed a 20-year time charter agreement with its unit MISC for five newbuild 174,000-cbm LNG carriers.

These vessels will also be built by Hudong-Zhonghua.
