Classification society DNV said on Thursday that alternative-fueled vessel ordering was strong in August, reaching 52 new vessels, with LNG remaining the dominant fuel choice.

India’s largest gas utility GAIL has signed a cooperation agreement with Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) and classification society DNV on setting up a liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering facility at the port of Kandla on the northwestern coast of India.
Classification society DNV added 20 LNG-powered ships to its Alternative Fuels Insight platform in April, as LNG fuel continues to dominate in new orders for alternative-fueled vessels.
