Video: KARMOL’s first FSRU on way to Senegal

Turkey’s Karpowership has released a video of KARMOL’s first FSRU, which is expected to arrive in Senegal later this month.

The joint venture of Karpowership and Japan’s MOl took delivery of Karmol LNGT Powership Africa on March 15 at Sembcorp Marine in Singapore, after it departed to Senegal under tow.

Sembcorp converted the 125,000-cbm FSRU from an old MOSS-type carrier.

Karmol LNGT Powership Africa was on Tuesday located offshore South Africa, VesselsValue data shows. It should reach Dakar on May 24.

Following arrival in Senegal, the 272 meters long vessel will supply LNG to Karpowership’s 235 MW Powership located alongside the shores of Dakar.

Senegal has ambitions to shift primarily to natural gas for its power production by 2035 in order to slash emissions and costs.
