Croatian FSRU receives another US LNG cargo

Croatian floating storage and regasification unit, located at the Krk facility in the northern Adriatic Sea, has received another LNG cargo from the US.

State-owned terminal operator LNG Croatia said the sixth cargo of the year arrived at the FSRU on Friday.

Following the completion of LNG cargo transfer, the 173,400-cbm Kinisis would leave Krk on Monday, LNG Croatia said, but it did not provide any additional information.

The 2018-built vessel, owned by Chandris and K Line, mainly transports volumes from the Freeport LNG terminal in the US as part of a long-term charter with BP.

Its AIS data shows that it loaded LNG at Freeport at the end of April, prior to delivering the fuel to Krk.

Moreover, this marked the fourth US shipment to land at the LNG Croatia FSRU which started commercial operations on January 1.

Three cargoes came from Freeport, one from Cove Point and from Nigeria’s Bonny LNG terminal, each, and one shipment arrived from Belgium’s Zeebrugge.

Besides the FSRU, the Krk import facility consists of a jetty and a high-pressure gas pipeline.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

Switzerland-based trading firm MET, Hungary’s MFGK but also Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked all of the volumes at the Krk facility for the next three years.
