China’s LGM Engineering to supply LNG fuel systems for 8 tankers

Gloryholder Liquefied Gas Machinery (LGM Engineering) said it would supply LNG fuel systems for eight crude oil and product tankers currently under construction in China.

LGM Engineering said in statement it has secured the contract earlier this year but it did not reveal the price tag of the deal.

China’s Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co (Bocomm Leasing) ordered twelve 120,000-ton dual-fuel tankers in April last year at two CSSC yards for about $54 million per each vessel.

Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) will build eight of the LNG-powered tankers while Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) will construct four.

Following delivery in 2022-2023, all of the LNG-powered vessels will go on charter to energy giant Shell.

The LRII type dual-fuel tankers will run on liquefied natural gas but also on fuel oil. They would meet the International Maritime Organization (IMO) TIER III emission standard.

LGM Engineering said its contract scope includes providing the complete LNG fuel supply system but also the system design and manufacture of Type C LNG fuel tanks.

In addition, the contract includes a dome platform, LNG bunkering station module, water glycol system, as well as the installation guidance of FGSS fuel gas control and ESD system, commission, gas trail, sea trail and crew training, it said.
