Naturgy, Transmarana to launch Spanish LNG filling station

Spanish utility Naturgy said it has signed a contract with compatriot transport firm Transmarana to build the first public LNG station for trucks in the province of Leon.

Transmarana will own the new facility which will be located in Villadangos del Paramo, Naturgy said in a statement.

In addition, the station is located in a “privileged location” for the northwest of Spain and Portugal, and would offer LNG to national and international heavy transport that circulates through the community of Castilla y Leon, it said.

The facility will feature one LNG dispenser for fast refueling of trucks.

Through this initiative, Transmarana supports Naturgy’s mobility strategy, whose objective is to promote the use of natural gas as the “best alternative” for professional transport compared to diesel, the firm said.

Naturgy already has an LNG station in Fuentecen in Castilla y Leon through a deal with Beroil and a CNG station in Mercaleon-Leon, also through an agreement with Paso Honroso.
