Another US LNG cargo lands at Croatian FSRU

Croatian floating storage and regasification unit, located at the Krk facility in the northern Adriatic Sea, has received another LNG cargo from the US.

The seventh cargo of the year arrived at the FSRU on Tuesday, according to state-owned terminal operator LNG Croatia.

Following the completion of LNG cargo transfer, the 180,000-cbm Rias Baixas Knutsen would leave Krk on Friday, LNG Croatia said, but it did not provide any additional information.

The 2019-built vessel, owned by Knutsen, previously loaded LNG at Sempra’s Cameron terminal in Louisiana, its AIS data shows. Spain’s Iberdrola charters the LNG carrier, according to VesselsValue.

This marked the fifth US shipment to land at the LNG Croatia FSRU which started commercial operations on January 1.

Three cargoes came from Freeport, one from Cove Point and from Nigeria’s Bonny LNG terminal, each, and one shipment arrived from Belgium’s Zeebrugge.

The facility also recently supplied a small cargo to Avenir LNG’s dual-purpose bunkering and supply vessel Avenir Accolade.

Besides the FSRU, the Krk import facility consists of a jetty and a high-pressure gas pipeline.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

Switzerland-based trading firm MET, Hungary’s MFGK but also Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked all of the volumes at the Krk facility for the next three years.
