Excelerate’s FSRU completes 100th STS LNG transfer off Bangladesh

Excelerate Energy’s FSRU, which serves the Moheshkhali floating LNG terminal, has completed its 100th ship-to-ship transfer offshore Bangladesh.

The milestone transfer took place on June 6 in the Bay of Bengal, according to a statement by the Texas-based floating LNG player.

Excelerate’s FSRU Excellence received liquefied natural gas from the 174,000-cbm LNG Merak during the operation.

Since beginning operations in 2018, the FSRU has delivered over 310 Bcf of natural gas to the region, Excelerate said.

The new milestone comes after Excelerate announced it had completed its 2000th commercial ship-to-ship transfer since the first in 2007.

This transfer also took place at the Moheshkhali terminal.

Excelerate has started providing LNG to Bangladesh in 2018 through its two FSRUs located offshore in the Bay of Bengal.

The two FSRUs received more than 157 cargoes of LNG and delivered an excess of 500 million MMBtu of natural gas into the Bangladeshi market, Excelerate said in April.
