New LNG carrier joins GasLog’s fleet

Greece-based vessel owner GasLog has taken delivery of another newbuild that will go on charter to US LNG exporter Cheniere.

Samsung Heavy Industries held a virtual naming ceremony on Thursday for the 180,000-cbm GasLog Wellington, according to the shipper led by Peter Livanos.

Equipped with WinGD’s dual-fuel propulsion, the vessel also features GTT’s Mark III Flex Plus containment system.

GasLog Wellington is the third ship in a series of four that will serve Cheniere under long-term contracts.

The quartet Samsung is building for GasLog includes two 174,000-cbm and two 180,000-cbm vessels. GasLog took delivery of the second vessel in January this year.

The fourth ship but also the second 180,000-cbm carrier in this batch is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2021.
