One injured in incident at Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass LNG plant

One person was injured on Tuesday afternoon at Venture Global LNG’s Calcasieu Pass export plant in Louisiana.

A Venture Global spokeswoman told LNG Prime in an emailed statement that “a sudden severe weather event” had damaged a crane at the plant’s site.

“An individual was injured during the incident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation and observation in accordance with site safety protocols,” the spokeswoman said.

“Their injuries are not life threatening. There were no other impacts to the site as a result of this event,” she said.

Once completed next year, the Calcasieu Pass plant will produce about 10 mtpa of LNG from 18 modular units.

Venture Global gets Calcasieu Pass modular trains from Baker Hughes’ manufacturing facility in Italy.

The company previously said it had received about a half of the 18 modular units. Each of the units has a capacity of 0.6 mtpa.

In addition, Venture Global told FERC in March that it could start first exports by the end of this year.

The LNG developer plans to launch full operations at the plant in mid-2022.
